英国留学推荐信的写作目的：英国大学要求申请能够得到了解申请者各方面人士的推荐函，主要是能证明申请者能够适合于修读所申请的课程。
若申请者仍在读或刚毕业，则学校教师所写的推荐函最有帮助。如申请者已非在学学生，则雇主或直属上司所写的推荐函也很有帮助。

f. 兴趣的广泛性、包括参与活动和社会组织
g. 社交能力和个人关系
3. 申请人对所申请的课程的适用性及对选读科系的学习能力
4. 申请人修完其课业后的生涯展望
如果是离校很久的申请者，推荐人可能很难就其学术能力给予评论。
此时，可能提供申请个人能力与自我激励能力的看法，且说明其认为申请者可能应付学位课程的理由，其工作经历及推荐人对申请者的工作绩效也应包括在内。
